Terry Hoeppner was the Indiana University football coach for less than three years, but he left a mark on the university that will be felt for a long time to come. He changed the culture of a program that hasn’t had a winning season since 1994, he established traditions within the program, and re-energized the fan base around the Big Ten program. He may have lost his fight with brain cancer in June of 2007, but his vision for Indiana football lives on in the hearts and souls of the young men who have dedicated the 2007 season to his memory.

Hoeppner’s career, and ultimately his life, came to an end in Indiana, but he spent the previous twenty years in Oxford, Ohio at Miami University of Ohio. “Hep Remembered” also chronicles the memories of Miami players, coaches and administrators who remember fondly a coach who led the RedHawks to a top ten ranking in the nation. Terry Hutchens has worked as a sportswriter for thirty years, including the past sixteen at the Indianapolis Star. For the past ten years he’s covered Indiana University football & basketball. In 2006, Terry was honored as Indiana’s Sportswriter of the Year by the National Sportswriters & Sportscasters Association. In 1995 he wrote Let ‘Er Rip, chronicling the Colts’ improbable run to within one game of the Super Bowl.
